Les niveaux permis d’exposition au rayonnement de radiofréquences sont au moins 200 fois trop élevés pour protéger contre le risque de cancer et 24 fois trop élevés pour protéger contre les effets néfastes sur la reproduction, selon Ronald Melnick, Ph.D., qui a occupé pendant plus de 28 ans le poste de toxicologue senior au sein du Programme national de toxicologie (NTP) de l'Institut national des sciences de la santé environnementale des États-Unis.
Dans un webinaire présenté cette semaine, il a expliqué avoir utilisé les procédures standard de l’Agence de protection de l'environnement (US EPA) pour estimer le risque de cancer. Il s'est appuyé sur les résultats de l’étude animale qu'il a dirigée au NTP et qui a conclu en 2018 que le rayonnement RF avait causé des cancers.
